Introducing The New What's New section

I’m happy to introduce a new feature designed to help you stay informed about the evolution of the app: What’s New.

App home screen highlighting the new "What's New" section in the bottom navigation bar.

From now on, whenever a new version introduces a feature, an improvement, or an important change, you’ll find it collected in a dedicated section inside the app. Instead of relying only on the release notes published on the Play Store, you can open the What’s New section at any time to discover what has changed and learn more about the latest improvements.

The new version 2.10.0 (1.0.2 Pro), which introduces this feature, is now available for download on the Google Play Store. Make sure to update the app to start using it.

A Direct Communication Channel

One of the main goals of this feature is to create a direct communication channel between the developer and the people who use the app every day.

Many apps rely on newsletters, social media profiles, or external communities to share updates and announcements. While those platforms can be useful, not everyone wants to subscribe to a mailing list or follow another social account just to stay informed about an app.

The What’s New section solves this by bringing important information directly into the app itself. Whether it’s a new feature, an improvement, or an announcement, you’ll always know where to find it, without having to look elsewhere.

La inserirei alla fine della sezione “Un canale di comunicazione diretto”, perché è una naturale conseguenza della filosofia della funzionalità.

No Intrusive Notifications

To keep the app as unobtrusive as possible, new articles published in the What’s New section do not generate notifications in your device’s notification center. Instead, simply open the app: a small badge with a counter on the What’s New section will let you know when new articles are available.

This way, notifications remain dedicated to their primary purpose, reminding you about your food expirations, without making the app unnecessarily intrusive.

Powered by RSS

This feature is powered by RSS, a simple and open technology that has been helping people follow website updates for many years.

Using RSS makes it possible to publish new articles and announcements without requiring an app update, allowing the content to stay fresh while keeping the app lightweight. It also avoids the need for third-party platforms or tracking systems, making it a straightforward and privacy-friendly way to share information with users.

If you’d like to learn more about RSS, you can read this page.

More Than Release Notes

The What’s New section is more than a list of release notes. While you’ll certainly find information about new versions and recently introduced features, it will also be used to share useful tips, highlight existing functionality that you may not know about, and publish important announcements whenever needed.

My goal is to make this section a place worth checking from time to time, helping you get the most out of the app and keeping you informed about its ongoing development.

Available Languages

The What’s New section is available in Italian and English. If your device is set to another language, the English version will be displayed automatically.

As Always, Thank You

The app has continued to evolve thanks to the feedback, suggestions, and support of its users. I hope this new feature makes it even easier to follow that journey, discover new improvements, and stay connected with future updates.

Thank you for using the app and for being part of its growth.
